CIMACS offers professionals, academics and undergraduate/postgraduate computing majors a range of opportunities. Please note that opportunities can be full-time, part-time, visiting and voluntary. Fully and partially funded doctoral (and post doctoral vacancies) are usually advertised under wider IGNITE UK, EPSRC (EU), National Science Foundation (US) and university partnerships; as well as independent grants from industry for specific projects.

MPhil & PhD Research Opportunities

We welcome inquiries from potential students to undertake MPhil/PhD level research under the supervision of CIMCAS staff. Please be advised that funded PhD opportunities when available, will be listed on CIMACS website - further resources for obtaining funding will be made available on the website. If you have secured funding and would like to discuss research ideas, please contact any member of staff to proceed further. A list of our yearly research output is posted under publications. Once you have an outline of a research idea, you will need to formally complete admission procedures as per admission requirements of partnering university.

Postgraduate MRes/MSc Disseration

Full-time and part-time MSc/MRes students can enquire about opportunities to work on challenging funded and non-funded projects under our supervision. Further information can be obtained by contacting our careers team.

Undergraduate BSc Project (Level 6)

Students in their last year have the opportunity of working with us on their final year project. Projects can be either research or development based and will usually run for a minimum of two semesters (one year). Please get in touch with our research coordinator for further information before the start of each semester. We would also encourage you to speak with our existing undergraduate students to discuss your ideas and learn more about their CIMACS experience.

Visiting Academics/Internships/Volunteers

Our centre has hosted visitors from a range of institutions. Due to limited space, we consider each application on merit and can accommodate a maximum of 2-3 visitors at a time. Please contact us to identify relevant details of the proposed activity (including dates). We can also offer paid and volunteer internships, especially for undergraduates who would want to work on cutting-edge problems in information systems, networking and cyber security.
